Training
Horse training is such a broad and diverse field, and every horse and rider is different as are their goals and needs. And yet a lot of training is the same for every horse. We need to establish a good horse-rider relationship based on trust and respect, and we have to make sure the horse has a clear understanding of the rider's aids.
After evaluating the horse and talking to you, we set some goals and develop a more specific training plan. Training sessions may happen in hand, under saddle, in the ring, out on trails or the roads. My favorite aspect of training is starting young horses, but I also enjoy continuing the education of your riding horse. It is always fun to work with new horses, get to know their personalities, figure out their strengths and weaknesses and come up with training plans that will bring us closer to our goals. |
Lessons
I offer lessons in a private or semi-private setting on my horses or your own. Lessons are tailored specifically to your and/or your horse's needs and wishes.
My goal as a teacher is to create an atmosphere where students can gain knowledge, skills and a good feeling for their horse, so they can be safe, enjoy their rides and improve the partnership with their horse. Depending on the level of education of horse and rider, this may include working on a lunge line, riding in the ring, on the track or out on the trails. All these different places give many opportunities to learn. When teaching children and beginners, I focus on getting riders comfortable, confident and safe on and around the horse which will then allow them to be well-prepared and ready to learn the basics of riding while having a lot of fun. In my career I have taught many students of all different levels, and some of my students have gone on to be successful competitors at an international level. |
Clinics
Clinics are a great way of learning because they give you the opportunity to really focus on a certain topic or challenge for a few days in a row. They also give you the chance to observe other riders and horses and, in addition to the two riding units per day, they usually include some lectures as well.
We host a variety of clinics here throughout the year, and we do have a few lesson horses available. I am also happy to come to your barn for clinics. |
Judging
Since 2017, I have held a USIHC Sport Judge Level B license which allows me to judge schooling shows and to be a second judge at sanctioned show events.
If you are interested in hosting a schooling show and are in need of a judge, please feel free to contact me.
